”Daddy’s Home”
This sculpture of a B.C. Firefighter was created during the wildfire season of 2017. I had seen a photo of a firefighter in the newspaper battling a wildfire and wearing what looked like a child-made macaroni necklace.
The sculpture was donated to the B.C. Wildfire Service, Kamloops Fire Centre in 2021.
What a wonderful surprise when I received an email from Jackie at the Kamloops Fire Centre who, after an exhaustive search, actually found the firefighter in the photo and delivered the sculpture to him!
“Good Afternoon Lily,
I have good news to share, we found the fire fighter that you sculpted and he is so very thankful and happy. He is going to receive it this weekend. He said to say thank you so much…..
I knew we would find him, otherwise we had a young fire fighter who was in an accident while on the front line and we were going to gift it to him. But finding the actual fire fighter is so very exciting.”
